P2P Software

One very popular use of the Internet, as well as a very common source of the spread of malware of all sorts, is file sharing programs. Known as P2P, or Point to Point, these programs are notorious for spreading all forms of malware. Either by being bundled with spyware, or by the users themselves sharing infected files.

There is no such thing as a "Safe" file sharing program for this very reason. Anytime we download files from someone, we run the risk that those files are corrupt in some way.

Period.

We can take all the possible precautions known to man, but be aware, if you choose to share files you ARE increasing your risk of eventual infection.

As for the file sharing programs themselves, some are known as spyware installers.

Spywareinfo has put together a list of "Infected" and "Clean" file sharing programs.
See the list here: Spywareinfo

Keep in mind that even with a "Clean" file sharing program, by default you are downloading from users that may or may not practice diligence when it comes to the security of their computer files.

The bottom line is that your better off not sharing files in this fashion.

The links below will take you to some needed tools that will help to keep your computer safe and secure.
