When Should I Use an "Online Scan" ?

One problem that you need to be aware of, is that any self respecting malware will probably attempt to disable the programs that can detect and destroy it. Just like a viral infection in our bodies, there is a motive of self preservation and survival. This can occassionally render our programs to be "blind" or, at times, to become completely corrupt.

For this reason I recommend that you always have a fall back position. Online scans can help us acheive that end by allowing us to scan our computers via an outside, uncorrupted source.

If at any time you suspect a possible incursion of malware, it would be best to double check the results your programs are showing you, just to be sure.

I would even recommend that you occasionally use the online scans as part and parcel to your weekly maintenance.

I have put together a list of various themed online scans for your convenience.
