Welcome to
Keep Your Home PC Safe

Security in the real world is something we are all concerned with. Many of us have home intrusion alarms, fire and smoke alarms, anti-auto theft devices, etc.
But how many of us really know about all the various ways our very own computers can be used to violate our security and privacy..? We hear about the latest virus in the news, or we speak to a friend or colleague that has been infected, and we feel lucky that, once again, at least it wasn't our computer.
Simply put, there is no such thing as a 100% secure computer. That which is 100% secure today can quickly become the "flaw du jour" tomorrow...
There is no limit to the imagination and exploitation that malicious code writers will come up with. For every patch, fix, or update that comes out to protect us from the newest threat, there is a plethora of "bad guys" working to exploit something new.
Every week, it seems we hear of a new tool being used to usurp our privacy or security. Email scams, virii, trojans, malware, spyware, adware, etc... and the list goes on. All of these things sound scary, and they can leave us vulnerable to less than desirable circumstances.
Whether it's identity theft, and the unauthorized use of our credit cards, bank accounts, etc.. or the unauthorized use of our computer to attack, compromise, or cause serious damage to another user's computer or web site, or simply track us as we surf the Internet, using our own interests against us with "targeted ads"... Very few, if any of these things, would we choose to have on our computers, if we were given the choice...
And there in lies the rub...
This site is dedicated to trying to educate, in laymen's terms, some of the ways we can avoid, or at least reduce our exposure to, the many possible pit falls that await us in cyber space.
Check in frequently as we attempt to collect various information to help you protect yourself from these situations.
